To be Honest, LAUNCH X431 ICARSCAN OBD2 Code Reader have a lot more options on that car then vpecker, for example on engine it can only read few parameters and it can read and clear trouble codes thats it nothing else on engine not even dpf regeneration, idiag have more to offer for that car, I tested on few more cars. I think what is can do more with special functions is for Toyota, Honda, Scion. But since it is original OBD2 code reader and softwar price is ok for it. It can do newest cars till 2017, software support online update. It can free to select 5 brand car software with 3 special functions, if you want to extra software, price is 39USD per brand ( Cost $158 )
So for now vpecker OBD2 scanner is good because it can do multi-brand cars. But software for this scanner is older. I think it is good for older cars. Price is $159, the functions are close to Delphi Autocom, but it is limited to do special functions.

If you are installing Icarscan APP (ezdiag) and software in android system , please pay attention to the above points.

1. If you install Icarscan through scanning the QR code, please do not use the software like QQ or WeChat to scan the APP. Be sure to scan the installation with a web browser.

2. If you encounter the following error information, the software is not fully installed.

When the software download is complete, please do not click “installing” on the image as below. The system will be installed automatically. No human operation is required.
If you click “installing”, the software will stop installing and it will not work properly.

The correct operation is shown below, and the system will be installed automatically. Don’t click “installing” with your hands.

If you click “installing”, the installation will stop.

Then you need to delete the APP and the software and reinstall it.

Let me just say I had no problem registering this online at Autel and I took serial number and password right from the machines screen as they show online. After I registered I also installed the CD that was supplied I did that no issues. Then I bought a 32GB sd card (Ultra) not that it matters but that’s the max, I clicked install all updates on the card and boom all went on. Then I took the card out of the machine the 8GB supplied and updated that as a back up. I’m also gonna order one more 32GB to keep in the safe. No issues at all my serial number had a Q in it which is the USA one. My wifi works good as well.

We have a small used car dealership and Autel MaxiSys Pro has been more than sufficient, pulling codes from different modules, the live data and the ability to communicate with nearly any make/model. If there is one complaint, it’s that it doesn’t have an internal battery so it always has to be plugged in, can’t walk around with it with it on. The updates are constantly coming in which is another plus. It could use a little tuning, some words are misspelled but otherwise its been working fine.

I just played around with LAUNCH ICARSCAN for the last hour testing various functionality. I installed it for iOS and had zero issues. I used the QR code to download the first application (EZdiag), input myserial number & activation code from the paper slip, selected my “8 pieces of free software”, then went to full system scan and selected Porsche and it downloaded a second application called “US&Euro car”. The second app launches automatically when you’re ready to scan a vehicle.

As far as functionality, I was able to read and communicate with all of the major modules with no problems. I played around with viewing various real time values and scanning the modules for errors (had a handful of meaningless errors). There are very minimal coding options available on the ICARSCAN , but there are a few. I think once upon a time someone was asking about headlight programming. There is an option to code a ballast as “left”, “right”, or “new control unit” as well as calibrate them. Not sure how any of it works, but it’s there.

I also have the iCarSoft i960 so can provide a brief comparison with that. Both units read real time values from the various modules just fine. There’s too many to compare to know if one reads more than the other. The i960 does not provide the Porsche specific error codes on the various modules. The i960 also can not reset the service interval, whereas LAUNCH ICARSCAN resets the service interval like a champ. The i960 is self contained and a little quicker to get going (no BT pairing), while the icarscan obd2 code reader feels a little snappier changing menus. The big bonus is the X431 works on many more vehicles.

Question:
Many customers reflect that they can’t test Bens car before2000 year after operating MB STAR C4 C5 2017.01.

Recently, I had bought one set Autel Maxidas DS808 kit on obd2tool and was asked to provide an objective review on its operation and capabilities.

I was interested to see how things had developed for Autel , as my previous experience of Autel diagnostic equipment was the first generation, Autel Maxidas DS708.

Compare with MaxiDAS DS808 , DS808 kit ( DS808K ) is full set with 12 connectors and cables. MaxiDAS DS808 is standard set only with obd2 cable. Please confirm by checking their packge list. Inside the case the host hardware was a compact, smart, rugged, android tablet. This was partnered by many good quality diagnostic adapters including those non-standard 16pin connectors, as well as a thick user manual on how to operate this machine.

The Autel Maxidas DS808 kit tablet was light and compact and was very comfortable in hand. For such a compact package, the Power Sources is optional incl.: Internal Battery Pack, vehicle power, external power supply by connecting the packed power adapter. For the battery life it has a large capacity 3.7 V/3200 mAh lithium-polymer battery. Besides its new processor (Cortex-A9 processor (1.5 GHz), 7.0” LCD Capacitive Touchscreen and the Ambient Light Sensor which can detect ambient brightness when it is inside the workshop, thanks to the screen finish and a good quality display.

The software look and feel are both very good in terms of layout and size and the touch screen operation worked flawlessly in conjunction with its large, clear icons. Ds808 kit was quick to get going from the initial power up to operate. The response in moving through the menus and executing tasks was immediate.

Downloading and running updates speed (which depends on the internet connection speed) was reasonable. The ‘services/update’ section of the software on the Autel DS808 notifies the user of pending updates, and it’s a ‘click and go’ procedure to set the updates running. And During general use I found that the Wifi communication connected stably when I used it.

The Autel Maxidas DS808 has wide and comprehensive system coverage, covers all of the prevailing makes and models. A detailed report of software coverage was beyond the scope of my brief. However, I did use the Autel Maxidas DS808 for a typical range of general workshop tasks (ECU information, trouble codes, freeze frame, live data, active test and special functions) on a typical range of workshop makes and models.

Also the “auto detect VIN” and “manually input VIN” are user-friendly design.

One of the features I believe that a diagnostic scan tool should have is graphing a live data stream. The reason that this is so important is to enable the vehicle technician to examine the relationships between the various sensors, actuators and calculated values. This is critical for intermittent fault finding and for vehicle problems which don’t set diagnostic trouble codes. In this respect the Autel Maxidas DS808 did a good job. The live data is selected from an array of available parameters and then graphed. The graphed data can be shown as separate graphs or combined in a job graph. The scales are auto ranging and they can be reset to align them to the current operating conditions.

Another nice feature is its special functions, especially when it compares with maxidas ds708. These functions perform various component adaptations, allowing you to recalibrate or configure certain components after making repairs or replacement. DS808 includes the most commonly performed service functions, such as: Oil Reset Service, TPMS Programming Service, EPB Service, DPF Regeneration Service, SAS Calibration Service, ABS/SRS Service etc.

The main menu displays the supported special functions for the test vehicle. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the desired function. When the operation is done, an execution status message such as Completed, Finished or Successful, displays. Tap the ESC button to exit the function.

By following the on-screen instructions to select appropriate execution options, enter correct values or data, and perform necessary actions, the system will guide my through the complete performance for various service operations.

Using ds708 many years, so I quickly find there are several applications are newly developed, they are AutoVIN Technology, MaxiFix Cloud-based information system, Shop manager. Valuing the user experience is the Company soul, I think Autel Company do a good job. I try these new applications one-by-one, and prove what they claim in the following table.

Autel Maxidas DS808 is allowed to submit Data Logging Reports in diagnostics. The reports are saved to the internal memory (which is a not insignificant 32 GB, depending on the hardware specification). As the tablet is equipped with WIFI, these can be emailed to the office or directly to the customer.

The Data Manager application is used to store, print, and review the saved files. Most operations are controlled through the toolbar.

In the toolbar buttons, you could see the “Print”, click it and go. Printing the reports directly is a little more challenging. In my case, I had to install a separate PDF viewer, and to realize the wireless data printing function, I need to install the printer driver program by following the instruction. This made getting the reports off the device a little long winded. My opinion is that it would be more convenient if the print button could be configured to call other installed printer drivers.

TeamViewer Quick Support program:
The “Remote Desk” app is remarkable, it launches the TeamViewer Quick Support program, it is a simple, fast and secure remote control screen. I could use it to receive ad-hoc remote support from Autel’s support center, colleagues, or friends, by allowing them to control my MaxiDAS tablet on their PC. Therefore I need not phone call any more. TeamViewer ID would be the phone number. Make sure the Display Tablet is connected to the Internet before launching the Remote Desk application.

Recently, we have customer reported that they meet problem to register LAUNCH ICARSCAN.

When they register icarscan , the phone screen display “the device is already activated by another user” or “Activation Failed”.

We used the user name and password provided by the customer to login to the APP, which activated the launch Icarscan of the serial number, and the same problem occurred. What Happen??

Finally, we checked the customer’s username and password in the background and found that the customer had made a mistake for his user name (maybe is the email)

for example, one of our customer set up the user name as ” jdrcmr525@tahoo.com ” when he register Icarscan .

But when he use his user name and password to login in, he is failed. Because he thought his user name is ” jdrcmr525@yahoo.com ”
When he try to login in, the program will remind him to activation again.

Please pay attention that ” jdrcmr525@tahoo.com ” is different as “” jdrcmr525@yahoo.com ”
when you register with ” jdrcmr525@tahoo.com” user name for your scanner must ” jdrcmr525@tahoo.com” .

There have been multiple users who have been using the wrong user name to login to Icarscan APP. Please be carefully to enter your email and password when you are register icarscan.
